Pink Eye in Dogs

Over the NYE holiday, I developed pink eye.  I couldn't see, out of my left eye, couldn't wear contacts and it hurt.  Did you know your DOG can get pink eye, too? They can!  It's such as contagious, as if you were to get it (that's why I couldn't work for a few days after the New Year).

There are seven causes of pink eye in dogs..

Bacterial
Viral
Immune medicated
Cancer
Secondary to disease of tissue surrounding the eye
Secondary to trauma or environmental causes
Secondary to other eye diseases

Whatever the cause may be, you need to get your dog to your veterinarian ASAP, so treatment can begin just as quickly!

If you have small children, do NOT allow them near your dog if the dog has pink eye and vice versa.  It is contagious!!!

I feel a little worried in this information due to the fact that I have a lot of dogs here in my house. It is really distressing because they are in a real trouble. Like what you have said, this kind of infection is contagious. And there are many ways to acquire this disease. It's very alarming and I don't want to wait for the time that I'll be needing to take all of them to a veterinarian. I need to further take care of them. I must make them stay clean and neat.
